เงี่ยงครีบหลัง (รวม): 2 - 3; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่หาง (รวม): 7; เงี่ยงครีบก้น 2-3; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่ก้น: 6. Usually silvery grey with a dark band running along the middle of the trunk.
Occurs in large dense populations, among stones and vegetation, in small ponds and streams. Feeds on plants and small animals. Spawns between April and June.
