Etymology: Cetopsidium: From Cetopsis, the first genus proposed in subfamily Cetopsinae, and 'idium' meaning diminutive, referring to the relatively small body sizes of the members of the genus; roae: Named for Rosemary Lowe-McConnell, known as Ro to her many colleagues and friends, in recognition of her contributions to the knowledge of the fishes of Guyana and many other regions of the world.
