Etymology: Helcogramma: Greek, helkos, -eos, -ous = ulcer, sore + Greek, gramma = letter, mark (Ref. 45335);  lacuna: The specific epithet is from the Latin lacuna meaning cavity, cavern, or hollow. Eastern Indian Ocean: Thailand, in the Andaman Sea. This is the only species of the fuscospinna species complex occurring in the Eastern Indian Ocean (Ref. 52308).
