Duri punggung (Keseluruhan (total)) : 15 - 16; duri punggung lunak (Keseluruhan (total)) : 7 - 8; Duri dubur: 3; Sirip dubur lunak: 6 - 7. The color pattern, seven dark red lines, and a characteristic arc at the connection between the postorbital stripe and the midlateral band distinguish this new species from all other known members of the genus Apistogramma. Lateral line 11-17/6-10.
