পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ) : 10; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 8. Color pattern consists of 6-7 oblique bars, each with a dark posterior margin and a fainter, irregular anterior margin; pectoral fin with 5 simple and 11-12 branched rays, pelvic fin with 2 simple and 8 branched rays, 39-40 + 1-2 scales on lateral line, scales with low keels, and pelvic-fin origin slightly in front of dorsal-fin origin.
Inhabits upland, fast flowing steams, among gravel (Ref. 56749). Taken at depths greater than 60 cm in riffles of a large stream, about 20 m wide flowing through a degraded hill forest. Other fish captured with this species and in similar habitat type include Acrochordonichthys melanogaster, Akysis fuscus, Glyptothoax 'major', Neogastromyzon nieuwenhuisii, Gastromyzon punctulatus, Homaloptera nebulosa, H. stephensoni, H. zollingeri and H. ophiolepis (Ref. 33004).
