Short description
Morfología | Morfometría
Espinas dorsales (total): 0; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 21-23; Espinas anales 0; Radios blandos anales: 25 - 29. Median depression on head. SL/Body Depth ratio = 3.7-3.8. Origin of dorsal fin in same level or slightly behind anal fin origin. Pectoral fins shorter than head and the extremities reach the origin of the pelvic fins. Small eyes with diameter 6.0-6.8 x head length. Affinities: close to M. ussheri, differentiated by the number of dorsal fins and the eyes which are smaller relative to the head length. M. mento also found in the area of repartition and distinguished by the number of dorsal and anal fins and the number of scales on the lateral line.
