soft rays: 26 - 28. Body elongate, higher and more bluish than N. lopezi. Forehead without rostral prominence even in adults. Two small peduncular plates each with a sharp, approximately semicircular, laterally projecting keel. caudal fin emarginate without a filament. Reaches 46 cm SL.
Found in deep seaward reefs (Ref. 9710). Benthopelagic and mesopelagic (Ref. 58302).
