The identity of the species is not certain, reported as Gnathophis cf. smithi in Ref. 89357 as it presents some characters of Gnathophis parini Karmovskaya, 1990. Collected at Robinson Crusoe Is. at dusk and night. One specimen previously collected at Robinson Crusoe Is. was misidentified as Gnathophis catalinensis (SIO65-658: 371 mm TL) (Ref. 89357). Also Ref. 27540. The species is reported from Southwest Pacific (Australia, New Zealand) according to Karmovskaya and Paxton (2000), but this reference has to be checked. |
