Remarks | The high level of genetic divergence between most of the populations (Olifants, Eerste, Noetsie, Kouga and Krom) in South Africa suggests that it may represent a species complex rather than a single species. It has been recommended that morphological/osteological revision be conducted in parallel with a large-scale analysis of the genetic diversity both within and between populations (Ref. 32965). |
