Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 37 - 165 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: endemic to Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on the continental shelf (Ref. 6871, 75154). Ovoviviparous. Size at birth about 25 cm (Ref. 6871). Utilized fresh for human consumption.

Country info:  Occurs in southern Australia, from the western sector of the Great Australian Bight to off Tasmania and Victoria (Ref. 6871). Sometimes enters shallow bays in Tasmania (Ref. 6871). Museum: Tasmania or South Australia, BMNH 1869.2.24.2 (Syntype). Caught in small quantities (Ref. 6871). Also Ref. 7300.
