Morphologie | Morphométrie
Épines dorsales (Total): 7; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 9; Épines anales 1; Rayons mous anaux: 7; Vertèbres: 26. This species is readily distinguished from its congeners in having the following characters: head barbels absent (vs. present); segmented dorsal-fin rays 8-9 (vs. typically 10-12); longitudinal scales 24-26 (vs. > 30); transverse scales 8-9 from anal-fin base upward and forward to base of dorsal fin (vs. 12 or more); scales present on upper part of cheek and operculum (vs. absent) (Ref. 84002).
All type specimens were captured by a beam trawl at the depth of 101 m; no substratum data of the habitat were available. Found with many other fish specimens, e.g., the champsodontid
Champsodon snyderi and the gobiid Amblychaeturichthys sciistius (Ref. 84002).
