Spine dorsali (totale): 2; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 7; Spine anali 1; Raggi anali molli: 5. Distinguished from all congeners by having bars on the body; and from all examined Pseudancistrus except Pseudancistrus genisetiger and Pseudancistrus papariae by having an incomplete mid-dorsal plate row with 18 plates ( vs. complete with 21-25 plates). Differs from one specimen of Pseudancistrus genisetiger and the holotype of Pseudancistrus papariae by the presence of 18 continuous plates (vs. mid-dorsal row with 14 plates, then a break around the adipose fin and then 2 more plates at the posterior end of the caudal peduncle. Another specimen of Pseudancistrus papariae with complete mid-dorsal row, but plate rows not examined (Ref. 75198).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01514 (0.00712 - 0.03216), b=2.97 (2.80 - 3.14), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
