পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 1; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 49-53; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 38 - 43; কশেরুকা : 56 - 59. Gill membranes fused ventrally to isthmus. Shoulder with an ocellated, black, eye-sized spot. Lateral line short with 9.7 (6-14) pored scales.
Found in intertidal pools to 3 m. Feeds mainly on crustaceans. Eggs with cruciform hooks on the surface.
