Known from W. Gippsland, Victoria to Mt. Gambier, S.A., Flinders Is. And NE Tasmania (Ref. 7300). Vulnerable in Australia and Victoria, rare and susceptible in Tasmania (Ref. 48666). Adversely affected by Perca fluviatilis, Cyprinus carpio and Gambusia holbrooki (Ref. 48787). Listed by IUCN as potentially threatened due to widespread habitat destruction by agricultural and urban development (Ref. 44894).
