Known from the Mekong basin downriver of Khone Falls (Ref. 43281). Has not been found in the Mekong above the waterfalls (Ref. 9497). Occurs in Ban Hang Khone at Don Khone, 3 km below the fall line of the great waterfalls of the Mekong basin at Lee Pee (Ref. 9497). At Khanthaboury, Savannakhet, it migrates upstream in schools together with other species. However, the downstream movements are more sporadic and not done with other species (Ref. 37770).
