Comments

Occurrence seems questionable. Recorded in the Rio Motagua basin and the Rio Naranjo (Ref. 7335, 12251, 36377). However, this species has been reported to be native to the Amazon basin and to have been introduced to Guatemala (Ref. 1739). Has established in aquaculture through unassisted reproduction and has not established in the wild (Ref. 1739). However, Ref. 7335 and 12251 state Guatemala and Honduras as native range.
