Known from Sub-Himalayan range, Ganges and Narbada river systems (Ref. 4832); Assam and all along the foot hills of the Eastern and Central Himalayas as far as Jamuna system, higher reaches of the Mahanadi in Orissa and the Vindhyas and Satpura ranges of Madhya Pradesh (Ref. 41236); and Kedar Valley (Ref. 37082). Present in Nainital, Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal lakes (Ref. 89721), Buxa, Adma and Jayanti rivers (Ref. 89719), Tungabhadra river (Ref. 92228) and upper reaches of Gumti in Raima rivulet (Gumti reservoir), Tripura (Ref. 97593). Endangered (Ref. 41236). Also Ref. 3443, 31807, 36732, 45255.

Status of threat: Endangered in Western Ghats (Ref. 50614).
