Known from Asi Nehri/Orontes watershed, Quwayq River watershed and Gulf watersheds (Firat Nehri, Dicle Nehri); Tigris and Euphrates river basins (Ref. 106151). Very sensitive to human activities. Threats include habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction of weirs/dams in rivers and water abstraction. Proposed for Annex II of the EU

Habitats Directive (Ref. 58342).

Status of threat: Endangered in Turkey, Critically endangered in Quwayq and Orontes systems, Data Deficient in Euphrates-Tigris system(Ref. 58342). "nEurTurk."
