Three adult specimens (7.72-10.8 cm TL) were caught from Sawa Lake, south-west of Baghdad, western desert (31°18′35.75′′N; 45°00′23.98''E,, and represent the first records of a marine fish species from a land-locked lake. Photos revealed that it may live in association a shrimp specie, tentatively identified as Palaemon elegans, which have been introduced to lake Abu-Dibic, reaching Sawa Lake via Euphrates Formation or aquatic birds may have inadvertently introduced the shrimp into Sawa Lake (Ref. 105089). A specimen (10.8 cm TL) was also collected from the southern marsh near Al-Fuhud Village, southwest of Baghdad represents a new record in a new habitat in the country (Ref. 117363).
