Found in the Mississippi River basin from Ohio to Minnesota and south to southern Mississippi, northern Louisiana and southeastern Oklahoma; and on Gulf Slope in Escambia, Mobile Bay and Pearl River drainages. Now extirpated from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois (Ref. 5723). Known from Cahaba River (Alabama-Mobile Bay), Bibb County, Alabama (Ref. 41482). Also Ref. 10294.

Status of threat: vulnerable; status same as 1989. Criteria: 1 (http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/afs/) (Ref. 81264).
