Introduced in Sagiling Reservoir (Ref. 8604). This species is introduced by fish dealers, became very popular and is called "lele dumbo' (Ref. 6093). Also specimens were introduced from the Wageningen Agricultural University, the Netherlands, to the Brawijaya University in Malang, East Java (Ref. 9421). Another introduction originates from South Africa, but the quality of these fishes was poor due to inbreeding (Ref. 13686). Also Ref. 2709.
