Occurs at altitudinal range of 80-200 m (Ref. 6351). Widespread in Narayani, Rapti, Kaligandaki, Arun and Tamur rivers (Ref. 12045), preferring pool/run areas of mountain streams (Ref. 57735). Colorful fish throughout life history (Ref. 85009). Used as ornamental fish by Buddhists (Ref. 12045).
