Known from both coasts of India. Abundant on fine sand and mud substrates. Museum: off Madras coast, Bay of Bengal, 267-460 m, HMS 'Investigator' sta. 162, USNM 46758 (lectotype by present designation). Off Madras Coast, BMNH 1928.3.20.67 (Ref. 26267).
