Known from the Atlantic coast of England (Ref. 51442, 59043). Found in England Wales, and Scotland. There is no known spawning site in the country. Principal threats include obstruction of river migration by pollution, dams and weirs, habitat destruction of spawning areas by pollution and engineering works, and overfishing in estuaries. Protected by Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981) (Ref. 90052). Also Ref. 188, 12140, 12255.
