A single sub-adult specimen (90.0 cm TL) was caught from southern reaches of the Shatt al-Arab River at Om-al-Rasas Island, Basrah, during an ichthyologic survey in September 2016 with the use of gillnets with mesh size of 40 mm. This represents the first record of of the species in the country and may have been introduced via aquarium trade (Ref. 117361).
