Known from Ganga, Yamuna, Brahmaputra, Krishna, Godavary, and Cauvery river systems (Ref. 41236). Extensively caught in the larger rivers of India (Ref. 4833). Recorded from Chilka Lake (Ref. 29108), Maharashtra (Ref. 43634), east Punjab and Uttar Pradesh (Ref. 45255). Present in Buxa, Adma and Jayanti rivers (Ref. 89719). Considered vulnerable (Ref. 41236). Also Ref. 43640, 97593.
