Type locality, Cabalian, Leyte (holotype of Sicyopterus extraneus Herre, 1927; also reported from the Cagayan River, Misamis Province (Ref. 439). Materials examined collected from Calbiga and Lagu Lagu creeks, Baybay, Leyte (Ref. 37578). Dominant species in the 'ipon' (postlarvae) in Cagayan River (Ref. 33036). Larval stages of this species are included in the 'dulong' catches from study areas in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro (Ref. 107093). Museum: CAS-SU 38607 (Ref. 11224).
