Type locality, Bynoe Harbour, NT (as coast of Western Australia), BMNH ? (holotype of Gobius bynoensis). Known from Yampi Sound, Western Australia (16°08'S) to Masthead Island, Queensland (23°32'S), in continental shelf, mud and rocky bottom (Ref. 75154). Also Ref. 12723.
