Regan (1913) listed ‘La Plata’ as and considered this the first record for Argentina. Several authors (e.g. Pozzi, 1945; Ringuelet et al. 1967 (Ref. 1977); Lopez et al., 1987 (Ref. 9086) and 2003; Keith et al., 2000 (Ref. 35237); Liotta, 2005) also mentioned La Plata and other localities in Argentina. However, no specimens or information about existing specimens from these localities were provided in these papers. Koerber and Litz, 2014 (Ref. 109234) recommend that this species not be included in faunal lists for Argentina, the La Plata basin nor any Atlantic area South of the Laguna dos Patos basin in Brazil until future findings may prove this status wrong (S. Bolasina, pers.comm, 07/16).
