This record is based on the tentative identification of 17 specimens landed off Sitka, in 1982 (Ref. 27437). This type of fish continues to occur sporadically in commercial landings (Ref. 27437). Specimens from Kodiak I. that were once identified as this species are now known to be S. ciliatus (Ref. 27437). Also Ref. 11366, 27436.
