Etymology: Sternarchorhynchus: Greek, sternon = sternon, + Greek, archos = anus + Greek, rhyngchos = snout (Ref. 45335); goeldii: Named for Emilio Goeldi, who made many contributions to the knowledge of many groups of Amazonian animals including fishes.
