Max. size:  30.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: main stream of the Amazon, from the region of Óbidos in Brazil, in the eastern portions of the Amazon basin westwards to north-eastern Peru.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In an aquarium environment, this species demonstrated increased activity levels at night, and only sporadic foraging activities in the course of the day (Ref. 84053).
