Etymology: Arnoglossus: Greek, aros, -oy = lamb + Greek, glossa = tongue (Ref. 45335).

Max length : 22.0 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 9824)
soft rays: 84 - 89. Similar to A. japonicus, but differs from it by having larger values for meristic characters, ctenoid scales on ocular side, shorter distance between dorsal margin of head and eye about 1/3 of eye diameter, and a dark blotch on pectoral and pelvic fins. The male has an elongated 2nd dorsal ray and a darker blotch on the paired fins.
