Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6 - 8; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 11 - 15. Diagnosis: slender and small ‘Lampeye’ species with a long caudal fin and extensions to the end of the dorsal and anal fins; dorsal fin with 6-8 rays, anal fin with 11-15 rays; scales on mid-lateral series 27-29 (Ref. 57259). Colouration: Male colouration: translucent pale olive, with two bands on the sides, comprising lines of strongly iridescent merged spots of light green to blue-green colour; the upper band is above the mid-lateral line and the lower band follows the lower body line; some small iridescent spots may be present between these two bands; the dorsal and anal fins are pale green to yellow-orange, the colour becoming more intense distally, and a red marginal band may be present; some red-brown spots may be present near the base of these fins; the caudal fin is pale yellow to orange, with a red margin and dark red spots, usually concentrated in curved lines (Ref. 57259). Female colouration: translucent grey overall, relatively dark on the back and silver-grey in the ventral parts, with a light silver iridescence on the sides; all fins are colourless (Ref. 57259). Both sexes show a distinct light blue reflective iris (Ref. 57259).
