Etymology: Glyphis: Tautonymous with Carcharias glyphis Müller & Henle 1839. (See ETYFish); glyphis: Greek for knife, referring to how anterior lower teeth are serrated and flare outward, arrowhead-like, before coming to a sharp point. (See ETYFish).

Found presumably inshore. Largest whole specimen collected was that of a female with maturity unknown, 175 cm TL. Large sets of jaws examined indicate that size can attain up to 2 m and possibly 3 m (Ref. 76952). Viviparous (Ref. 50449). Biology poorly known.
