Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 5-6; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 8 - 10; Ryggkotor: 32 - 33. Distinguished from all its congeners by possessing tubercles with poorly-demarcated, indistinct margins (versus tubercles with well-demarcated and distinct margins) and the following combination of characters: head width 20.3-25.0% SL; body depth at anus 11.3-14.7% SL; depth of caudal peduncle 5.7-7.3% SL; pectoral-fin length 23.1-28.9% SL; interorbital distance 34-39% HL; eye diameter 7-11% HL; length of nasal barbel 29-65% HL; length of maxillary barbel 122-144% HL; length of outer mandibular barbel 88-134% HL; color pattern of dark-colored patches on a predominantly light-colored body (versus predominantly dark-colored body with light-colored patches in its congeners); and caudal fin strongly forked (Ref. 30226).
