North America: Atlantic Slope from Santee River drainage in North Carolina, USA to Altamaha River drainage in Georgia, USA; Gulf Slope in upper Chattahoochee River drainage in Georgia. Recently found (possibly introduced) in extreme upper Peedee River drainage in North Carolina.
