Vertèbres: 69 - 71. Body depth 14-18 times in SL; no nasal barbel; plain brown or finely spotted body; a faint dark stripe along the side from the gill opening to the caudal fin (Ref. 27732). Head 12-13 times in total length (Ref. 12693).

Biologie     Glossaire (ex. epibenthic)

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Lives in hailstone to peat carals (Ref. 57235). Found in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Inhabits sand or leaf-litter in river stretches with slow current (Ref. 27732). Occur near the bottom over sand or silt substrates in debris and decaying vegetation. Spends much of its time buried in the sand or slowly foraging across the surface. Breed in very shallow water with a lot of vegetation, most commonly in flooded forests or grasslands along the water edge. Feeds mostly on benthic invertebrates. Not fished commercially. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade (Ref. 12693). Highly esteemed food fish in northern central Thailand (Ref. 57235).
