Has only 19-24 gill rakers on the first gill arch; lateral line usually discontinuous (Ref. 27732). Reported to have lateral line usually continuous (Ref. 12693).
Found in large rivers in slow flowing to standing water (Ref. 27732) and at shallow and medium depths (Ref. 12693). Feeds on zooplankton and occasionally insect . Probably used to make prahoc (Ref. 12693).
