পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 0; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 10-12; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 8. Diagnosis: Mouth subinferior; barbels absent; lateral line complete; 24-28 scales in lateral line; 12 circumpeduncular scales; no spots on sides; tip of dorsal fin black (Ref. 81639).

Occurs over sandy-muddy substrates near aquatic vegetation composed mainly of the water hyacinth Eichornia crassipes and reed; also occurs over rocks without vegetation (Ref. 27625).
