Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Diagnosed from its congeners by having the following characters: conspicuous black midlateral stripe in preserved individuals; 67-79 (usually 68-75) scales along lateral line; anal fin with 8½ branched rays; 6-7 gill rakers; and caudal peduncle depth 2.1-2.7 times in its length (Ref. 59043).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Found in water courses at high altitudes and on the lowland rivers, with little current (Ref. 26100). Also occurs in clear streams and springs. Enters subterranean waters during winter or droughts. Omnivorous. Threatened due to water abstraction, pollution and introduction of Salmo trutta. Considered on the very edge of extinction, with a single small population known (Ref. 59043).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00832 (0.00383 - 0.01808), b=3.10 (2.93 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
