Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 8. Distinguished from all congeners by the combination of the following characters: absence of semicircular black mark on the middle of each caudal fin lobe; absence of black band across the dorsal fin; two pairs of barbels; lateral line with 39-40 scales (Ref. 93106).
Occurs in shallow, fast flowing and clear water along the banks of the main course and the tributaries of the Dulong River. The bottom consists of large boulders, cobbles, gravel, and little sand. The wet rocks are covered with many diatoms (Ref. 93106).
