Body long and slightly compressed; head pointed, its dorsal profile almost straight from nape to origin of dorsal fin; mouth oblique; lower jaw prominent; teeth set in 1 to 3 rows, with a pair of canines on the anterior end of upper jaw; lower branch of first gill arch with 7 to 8 gill rakers; second dorsal fin without small scales; cycloid scales on body and head; lateral line scales 60 to 70 (Ref. 55763).
