Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Savannah associated species which prospers in a range of lentic habitats (Ref. 5644, 52307), tolerant of a wide range of water quality parameters and found in both very soft waters and highly saline ones (Ref. 52307), including brackish water lagoons, large lakes and riverine flood plains (Ref. 5644). Occurs near vegetation beds and fringes. Feeds on Caridina and insects. Pair-bonding (Ref. 52307) substrate spawner (Ref. 28714, 52307), ripe and spent fish are common early in the flood season (Ref. 28714).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5001   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01905 (0.01031 - 0.03520), b=2.98 (2.83 - 3.13), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this species & (Sub)family-body (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.39 se; based on food items.
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
