Vertebrae: 35. Differs from all other species of the genus Laubuca by the following combination of characters: lateral line complete with 34-27+1-2 pored scales; transverse line on body with
½ 6/1/2-2 ½ scales; caudal peduncle with ½ 4/1/1 ½ scales; body depth 27.2-29.8% SL; pelvic-fin length 20.5-25.2 %SL in adults, longer in juveniles, not extending beyond origin of anal fin; tuberculation on lower jaw dense, reaching backwards beyond level of anterior orbit (Ref. 75997).
