Dorsal soft rays (total): 6 - 7; Anal soft rays: 4 - 5. Escal bulb with a membranous anterior crest. Distal escal appendage an elongate, cylindrical stalk, flattened and expanded distally, bearing slender filaments on periphery, without elongate prolongation emerging from bases of escal hooks. Posterior escal appendage broad, laterally compressed (Ref 27827). Length of illicium 38%SL; anterior crest of escal bulb with rounded outer margin and broad base; posterior escal appendage a compressed flange 2.1% SL in length, with irregularly rounded edge and broad base, emerging from below escal pore (Ref. 86949).
Feeds mainly on fish and occasionally on invertebrates (copepods) (Ref. 27828).
