Etymology: Corydoras: Greek, kory = helmet + greek, doras = skin (Ref. 45335);  zawadzkii: Named for Dr. Caludio Henrique Zawadzki, for his comprehensive contributions to the knowledge of Neotropical ichthyofauna, especially of the Loricariidae (Ref. 110223).

Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

This species can be distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: long mesethmoid, with anterior tip well developed, significantly over 50% of bone length; posterior margin of dorsal-fin spine with serrations directed towards tip of spine; 1-2 longitudinal black stripes on flanks; no black blotch across the eyes (mask); large black blotch on dorsal fin absent; and presence of transversal black bars on caudal fin (Ref. 110223).

Found in small stream (2-3 m wide and 0.5-1.8 m depth), with clear water, preserved riparian vegetation, and swift water current. Bottom substrate composed mainly by sand and dead leaves (Ref. 110223).
