Ecology
Marine; bathypelagic; depth range 200 - 1350 m (Ref. 26074), usually 200 - 600 m (Ref. 26074). Deep-water; 55°N - 17°S, 19°W - 16°E
Eastern Atlantic: southern Ireland to Angola; penetrated the Strait of Gibraltar without establishing widespread or abundant populations in the Mediterranean Sea. Reported from the Canary Islands (Ref. 5304), Sicily and Corsica (Ref. 4710).

Occurs on muddy bottoms of the continental slope (Ref. 2683). Feeds mainly on polychaetes and some amphipods (Ref. 4710).
