Freshwater; benthopelagic; pH range: 5.8 - 6.5; non-migratory. Tropical; 24°C - 29°C (Ref. 31267)
Africa: central Congo River basin, including the Ruki drainage, shore region of Lake Tumba and Lake Mai Ndombe system (Ref. 47311).

Occurs in weedy parts of small rivers, brooks and swamps in river drainages (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
