Etymology: Julidochromis: Taken from marine wrasse "julidini"; also from Greek, ioulis = a fish dealing with genera Coris or Thalassoma (Ref. 45335).

Africa: Endemic to the south western part of Lake Tanganyika, north of Sumbu national park in Zambia.

Usually found on rocks and rubble; very stationary and territorial. The center of the territory is a crack or fissure in the rock. Feeds mainly on crustaceans which are picked from rocks and very occasionally from drifting matter (Ref. 6770). Aquarium keeping: in pairs; minimum aquarium size 60 cm (Ref. 51539).
